How My Smile Changed My Life

How did you feel about your smile prior to having any dental work carried out.
I have always loved smiling at people and in my profession of course it is what you do, people are physically close to you.  I am a Clairvoyant and a Reiki Healer.  I work extensively on a one-to-one with clients therefore appearance is quite important.  I've also been offered magazine and television work, but I'll come to that later because that is very much to do with my new smile.

I felt after 40 years of being quite ashamed of my teeth that it was finally time to do something about it.

What sort of things would you do or how would that physically manifest itself?
I wouldn't smile often, cover my mouth when speaking there would be social situations which I would perhaps avoid.  It never really impacted on my work, but I was always conscious of it.  I would say it didn't affect my working life, but most certainly it did affect my social life.

So you were actually doing things to avoid people seeing your teeth.
Very much so.

You obviously then felt that you had a need to have something done and you then made a decision when you reached 40?
I did!  On my 40th birthday, I decided I could invest money in having holidays that would come and go, clothes that I would probably bin in the end, shoes that I would probably never wear or I could be very, very sensible and invest the money and I mean invest it, on a lovely set of teeth.  I made an investment in myself.

So you then looked around for a Dentist, what made you chose The JMDP?
To be quite frank, I just knew instantly.  I moved to Glastonbury and I had decided to do something about my teeth and the first Dentist I saw and felt right about was The JMDP which was on the Street as mine.  Talk about divine providence!  I knew instantly.  I walked in and thought it was exactly right.

So you then embarked on your course of treatment, how did you find that?
I can honestly say, I enjoyed my dental treatment.  It sounds quite perverse, but I actually enjoyed the process.  I must assure people, there is no pain.  Everything was explained, I felt that I was pro-active in the process, every session was a delight because I knew I was getting nearer the goal and because James was explaining every part of the treatment I knew exactly what was going on, how long it would take before I achieved my ultimate lovely smile.  I must say I enjoyed my dental treatment.

So you went through the process and at the end you had a very different smile to that which you had before and on your birthday, which was marvellous and I think that was almost a year and a half ago so what has happened since.  One would hope that certainly you would be smiling more and no longer covering your mouth?
I'm smiling at handsome strangers constantly!  It is true, I am smiling a lot more, I am more confident socially, I love my new teeth, I cant believe the difference it has made to my overall appearance and confidence levels, even I had underestimated that impact.  Professionally, I have finally made that trip to Arizona to do work that I had been putting off for years.  They had been asking me to go for years, but being in the United States where everyone has perfect teeth, I thought I really couldn't go.  I booked my tickets and went and had a great success.

That then was partly to do with the confidence that you had from being able to no longer be ashamed of something which everybody could see.
Absolutely.  Other things about our appearance we can hide.  Our teeth we cant disguise, we have to change them.  I am also running a new psychic development course now that I might not have had the confidence to do previously and there may be some television work coming up that again, I would have refused to do.

So it is really a lot to do with the confidence that you have received from your new smile.
Absolutely.

So it is the confidence within that comes from that.
I don't think that any one can over estimate the effect that having a lovely new set of teeth that suit your skin tone, your face shape and your mouth shape can have on you.

You mentioned before that it helps you professionally, you have built up your confidence and have done things which you had put off in the past, did you mention there was a little bit of romance, is that because you're smiling at strangers?
I think in social situations because you are more prepared to smile at people, it gives a different impression and lets just say that my appointment book is full and not just professionally!

In a nut-shell then, as you say it has been a great investment and one that you have no regrets about having made.
None whatsoever.  My teeth will dazzle forever.  I can honestly say that I am a happy medium!
